Owning vintage pieces has recently become one of my favorite past-times. I find that with each piece comes a story, and even more so, with each piece comes an unknown story, of the items distant past and the home where it once lived and the ever-so chic being who also fancied it. I find beauty in all of the small imperfections that may be found; a scratch, a snag in the fabric, a stain…to me this is what makes each item so unique and full of love.
Yesterday’s CLB Uniform called for classic styles and effortlessly chic deliverables. I pulled in all of my old faithfuls. As trends develop around me and my personal style continues to evolve, I am reminded to stick to timeless pieces when purchasing. I focus on investing in quality pieces that are classic and I know I will own for quite some time. The less “clutter” that I fill into my closet the better, and I find myself feeling like I have so much more to work with in my wardrobe when my vision isn’t being blinded by, for lack of a better word, junk.
I would describe my personal style as effortless, classic, and minimal. So, let’s chat through what I (CLB) wore yesterday! xx
I sported a very crisp 59 Eastfield Vintage - Ralph Lauren Denim Button-Up on the top.
My ever-so-chic internet friend Elizabeth, founder of 59 Eastfield Vintage so generously gifted me a very special Ralph Lauren Denim Button-Up and it quickly reminded me of the power of timeless pieces and heritage brands. The rest followed in suit.
On the bottom I slipped into my leading lady, a pair of Vintage 501s from ShopRLT. ShopRLT was actually the first store that I visited when I moved to LA last July. I quickly fell in love with the minimal interiors and curation of vintage pieces. Over the past year I have seen Rachel grow the RLT Collection which has expanded to include tees, long sleeves, sweaters, dresses, skirts, and tanks. Another illustration of timeless pieces. Miss Rachel Tabb, the creative mastermind and beautiful soul behind ShopRLT is a true gem..but more on RLT later…
I reached for my Gucci Leather Horsebit Loafers, a pioneer behind quiet luxury, originally released in 1953.
Paired with a little sparkle on my ankle, the Rice Pearl anklet from DONNI.
I finished the look off with a vintage Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy Bag.
This is an extra special bag because it used to belong to my mama. It was the first designer bag that she bought for herself with a big commission check when she was 23 years old.
A note from my mama: “I’ve saved it all these years because it really meant something to me. I earned it and was able to go out and get it. I always admired the beautiful things that my grandmother had. My grandmother and grandfather were a big influence in my life, and they taught me that you have to work hard and earn it. I am very grateful for that lesson. As a gift to you, I had it repaired through Louis Vuitton and they made it look brand new. I just absolutely love that it was able to be passed down to you, looking spiffy. I think it’s a great story, there’s a lot of meaning in that little bag from me to you.”
Final details. Before I headed out the door to work!
